Finally after eyeballing it for a few months, I have decided to give a new strain, Sugar Punch, a try. I purchased this strain from Reef Dispensaries, courtesy of Tryke Companies. I did get a cartridge as these tend to be the easiest whenever I am out and about running errands.
*Shoutout to David over there at Reef Dispensaries in Queen Creek for always holding ya girl down!
Anyway, let’s get into the THiCk of this sugary punch.
Taste and Quality
Sugar Punch really reminds me of eating a vitamin C chewable tab. I guess if you are into the smells and l tastes of citrus then you should definitely check this strain out. Even if you aren’t into that flavor pallet you should still try it. Sugar Punch gives a mini burst of really sweet orange slices with earth tones on inhale then dulls down the sugar to a mediocre smack in the face with some spicy lemon and grapefruit. Usually, I’d say walk away and never look back with any strain that sounds like it’s about to serve you a serious ass whoopin’, but not with this one. With Sugar Punch, on the other hand, I just didn’t feel a huge high itself. That being said, this would be a perfect starter strain for novice users.
All bull aside, for under $40, I was able to get .5g of this strain in a distillate form. I say it was no doubt worth the cost for the quality that is provided. I enjoyed the flavor, though it was not powerful enough to truly taste the terpene profile, which is just fine with me. While other companies may offer this strain in a distillate form and the prices are likely to be higher, I believe that I can give Sugar Punch credit for the amount of smoothness on my throat and lungs.
Medicinal Benefits
The reason why I chose to go after Sugar Punch this time is because most patients have reported it as being a great strain for eye pressure and pain. Now, I personally do not deal with any eye disease, however I do deal with tension headaches. At times the tension headaches do affect my eyes, mostly behind my eyelids and directly behind the eyeball. I was hoping that with this strain it could help ease some of the tightness that I usually encounter whenever my tension headaches go to acting a fool. It absolutely delivered on easing eye pain. I felt instant relief from the tension headaches. Even my anxiety that often floods in with the headaches were halted in its tracks.
In regards to whether or not this strain truly causes munchies is on the fence for me. I did have some munchies with this strain, but it wasn’t anything that I wasn’t able to keep under control. Perhaps the sweetness of it provokes hunger in some people. Later on that one.
Either way, I was not able to remain up and active while using this strain.
One unfortunate thing with Sugar Punch is I was not able to maintain a steady productive day. I noticed that I felt constantly drowsy, though this could easily have been an energy drain from a spirit (you should check out my About Me page for a little more info on that one). Either way, I was not able to remain up and active while using this strain. I was disappointed in this because it is marketed as a sativa-dominant hybrid which I should have felt a boost from, but I only wanted to lie down somewhere and cuddle with a blanket.
Besides the marked drowsiness and munchies, Sugar Punch relieved anxiety as mentioned above. I had tremendous relief from the tingling in my hands, arms, legs and feet. I didn’t have a bunch of fleeting thoughts afterwards either. In relation to that I usually have pain in my neck and shoulder.
Unfortunately, this strain was not great in that regard. I still had constant pain during my high which really made it hard to fully indulge.
Overall, I would have to rate this strain 1 leaf out of three leaves.
Sugar Punch was only okay in taste. I enjoyed it, but it was still missing that huge punch which would add more weight to its name. Again, maybe it was just me. Perhaps I received a bad batch, but I’m not so sure on that theory.
