Finding Something To Do: Brain Drain

Do you often end up with a ton of high thoughts that you want to share with someone, but you have no one to tell them to? It can be a bit frustrating for me, but I have talked to other patients who have come to the same conclusion of just feeling bored while medicating. Sure, no one should be around you when you use your medical cannabis or you could risk losing your certification. So, what can be done? That’s why I’m here. Below are a list of things I do that you can try today to let out all of the high thoughts racing in your brain without embarrassing yourself - too much.

Participate in an online painting/drawing tutorial.

A Miss Kitty first!

This here is something I like to call Vape and Sketch instead of the traditional paint and sip. I simply locate an online video of an artist sketching something that looks interesting and I follow along! I found doing this very relaxing and even discovered a new skill within sketching I never knew I possessed.

Try doing meditation.

Sometimes I find myself in moments of heightened emotional states, and, unfortunately, that factor makes meditation difficult to tap into. Whenever my mind is too wrapped within itself, normal anxiety reduction methods, such as use of a metronome or tapping on the knees or arms, give me zero relief. Now with the boost of a hybrid strain, I can quickly enter into a meditative state.

Turn up the music and host your own bedroom concert.

Like for real. Sometimes I turn up my music and put on this whole show for my cat, Mr. Springer. You seriously thought I didn't have a kitty?! HA! Anyway, Springer appreciates my "hooman" concerts as long as he can leave my room whenever he wants. It doesn't bother me at all because my mini concerts relieve the tension in my muscles and allows me to fully immerse myself into settling down. You better learn how to find your peace!

Clean or organize something in your home.

One day I decided to medicate because my issues were getting to be a bit out of hand. While on a mid-day munchie stroll, I looked inside of my laundry room and noticed a giant trash bag full of papers that I needed to shred. Just like that my appetite was gone! I plugged in my paper shredder and got to work. I was able to work off the fuel I had from my hybrid and get rid of clutter. I’ll take it!

Get a coloring book and coloring tools.

No lie, I went to the store and purchased a set of 50 thin coloring markers and a sugar skulls coloring book. I love doing this whenever I use indica strains to completely settle into my relaxation.

Start brainstorming some topics you wouldn't otherwise think about.

This is an excellent cure for writer’s block or anyone struggling with a creative flow hinderance. Can you guess how I came up with the topic for this post?

Journaling.

Whenever there is a lot on my mind and I want spew it all out nonstop, I choose to journal. Not only has journaling been recognized my counselors and therapists for processing my own emotions, but it is a great way for me to observe my absolute thoughts and emotions to better understand myself.

Participate in video gaming.

I tend to pride myself on being a bit of a professional at video game spectating. It’s like I’m watching a movie that I never get bored of. It’s excellent for getting rid my initial anger that usually dissolves into anxiety and fear. Now, you might just embarrass yourself if you jump into any online matches, though.

Sit out in nature.

Nothing stirs up my feels like sitting out in nature while I blaze up, responsibly of course. Taking out the time to observe my surroundings really brings my awareness to my environment and enhance the feelings of my herb by allowing my mind to feel safe. The key for me is to always relax and truly enjoy my blaze session. Whether I’m sitting in my tent or relaxing on my back patio, nothing beats good ol’ herb in nature.

Do absolutely nothing.

Sometimes letting my mind run rampant and just observing, or even take note of what I think about, is just as relaxing as physically moving. Any eccentric ideas I form in this state seem to oddly work when I resume my normal functioning.

Have you found an activity that you think is worth trying during a blaze session? Share it with me in the comments below!
